Technology

urbanixm supports sustainable urban development through custom data analysis, case study research, and interactive tools to support decision-making, combining global best practice with knowledge of local context.

Our work stands on two technical pillars: a toolbox for flexible analysis of urban data and a content processing engine to extract urban knowledge from the Web.

Data Analysis Toolbox

In our Urban Data Analysis Toolbox we collect a mixture of open-source tools and our own proprietary algorithms to collect aggregate, analyze and visualize urban data to generate data-driven insights that helps construct a data centric view of local context.

Examples of outcomes from our data toolbox include analyses include walkable access to services in the Icelandic Capital Area and impact of energy performance certificates on residential real estate pricing in the UK.

Knowledge Discovery Engine

Our Urban Knowledge Discovery Engine is a collection of AI powered tools to create an urban knowledge repository, by crawling websites related to urbanism (city websites, blogs, news, research reports, etc.) and extracting information about urban policy and infrastructure interventions, with a special attention to their sustainability impact.

Examples of outcomes from our knowledge engine include an overview of the economic impact of pedestrianization and application of cargo bikes in urban services.

Combining our two technical pillars we provide data-driven services and informative stories for urban professionals.
